A real rain of awards fell on these projects. Not long ago, we proudly and joyfully informed you that the Bofii armchairs, the Aztec bed and the Torii furniture collection were awarded distinctions by the Łódź Design Festival's Council of Experts. must have . And here - more excellent news, and not only from Poland, but also from abroad.
Tondo and Aztec in the finals of the IWP Good Design competition
Institute of Industrial Design founded in 1950, was one of the first European state institutions dealing with design as an important aspect of social and economic life. From the very beginning - to use the words of one of its founders, Wanda Telakowska - it promoted "beauty every day and for everyone", i.e. the production of useful, durable and visually attractive objects. At the same time, it has supported and today continues to support domestic companies in using excellent design for innovation and competitiveness.
One form of this support is Good Design, the oldest (established in 1993) Polish competition dedicated specifically to design. For 31 years, it has honoured over 600 outstanding products. At present, the competition comprises as many as nine categories corresponding to all aspects of everyday life. From the prose and poetry of life to issues as important as health care or public transport.
This year too, a group of experts - designers from many fields and researchers - selected implementations that stood out for their functionality, form and class of workmanship. The Good Design 2024 competition finalist title went to the following collections Tondo i Aztec, both designed by Grynasz Studio for the Bizzarto brand. All the final works - including Bizzarto furniture - can be seen in an exhibition at the IWP building. The exhibition will run until 3 December.
Bofii and Tondo with German Design Award 2025
This prestigious award is given German Design Council, founded by the state authorities in 1953 to promote design as a lever for economic success. Today, representatives from more than 330 of Germany's most important companies participate in the institution's work.
German Design Award has existed since 2012. The jury is made up of representatives from as many as 16 countries. Beforehand, however, the pre-selection for the competition is carried out by expert committees, which invite only those products that very clearly stand out in terms of design quality to compete. All prizes are awarded in a multi-stage judging process, culminating in a two-day jury meeting. It then becomes clear which product or design is awarded the title 'Gold' or 'Winner' in each category.

The competition every year is formidable. And what was it like this time? In the competition for the German Design Award 2025, almost half (48%) of the participants were products and projects from outside Germany, a total of from 59 countries worldwide. Of the countless entries, 39 were awarded the title in the 'Excellent Design' category ('Excellent Product Design'), among them the chair Bofii and a table Tondo.
For these reasons, already the participation of the Bizzarto armchair collection in the German Design Award 2025 competition is a very important distinction and at the same time a form of promotion of Polish design and industry on the international forum. The success does not end there, however, as the Bofia and Tondo collections received awards in the 'Excellent Design' category.
Bofii, Tondo, Aztec. This furniture has conquered the design world
Bofia armchairs are a tribute to the Spanish postmodernist architect Ricardo Bofill. On a swivel base (upholstered or oak veneered, depending on the recipient's preference) rests a seat with armrests and cushions in a choice of two sizes. In this way, the interesting form can be easily adapted to the possibilities of a given room and, in larger spaces, creative play can be had by multiplying the chosen variant or juxtaposing different versions of the furniture.
Tondo tables were inspired by the sculptures of Katarzyna Kobro. The cascading tops arranged on three levels not only make it possible to conveniently place small items that are useful at a given moment, but also to remove excess objects from view. The table itself is also easy to adapt to the aesthetic concept of a particular interior. Its shell of lacquered steel can be combined with tops of stone, wood, veneered board or terazzo. One of the advantages of this model is that it is easy to achieve a wide variety of visual effects.
Line Aztec beds is distinguished by the unique shape of the headrest. Although it draws on Aztec decorative motifs, it changes its expression dramatically depending on the upholstery. Maintained in white or blue, it can also be associated with a cloud, while in intense colours it reveals links with art déco aesthetics. What's more, the AZTEC bed comes in three size and design variants - from modest to strikingly expansive. The latter, the widest one, can be fitted with handy shelves that function as bedside tables.
